Kwelexwelsten is a name bestowed on Brandon in 2012 from the Gaurin and Point side of his family in Musqueam, the Pierre and Sam families in Katzie, and Gabriel family in Kwantlen, as the name comes from Kwantlen's ancient village in present day New Westminister, which was presided over these great families since time immemorial. Brandon was born and raised on the Kwantlen First Nation Reserve in Fort Langley BC, Canada.
